There is honestly no better time if you are on Blogger to make the move to WordPress. Blogger has been down and having problems for the past month. Google claims they are “…in the process of rolling out a fix…” but it has not been working for more than 3 days.
OK, so you are ready to make the switch but aren’t quite sure how?
Well first you need to get web hosting for your new wordpress.org site, this will run you 83.88 from Go Daddy.
Then you either have to figure out how to move yourself, or pay someone to do it. I am NOT the technical type, at all. So I searched and searched for a good transfer package and stumbled upon Blogelina! Blogelina’s motto is “affordable solutions for blogging moms” and boy do they mean affordable!
Blogelina’s Total Blogger to WordPress Transfer Package includes-
-A full transfer of all posts. I did not lose a single post in my move!
-Set up of RSS. (This is a list of people who get your blogs emails delivered to their inbox, can you imagine having to start this list all over?)
-Redirecting all links so your new site. If you go from a blogspot.com to your own domain Blogelina will leave a “We have moved to ___” post that will then redirect your readers!
-They will also help get your design to look as close to your original as they can after the move! I was petrified of losing my precious owls, and as you can see, they are still there!!
-Web hosting for one year.
-Blogelina’s Blogging Bundle book. (This book has really helped me with the transfer over, with stuff like permalinks, how to customize my settings, and spam control! Check out the table of contents here for whats included- Really anyone can use this book, it has Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, SEO, and WordPress information in it!)
This entire package is all you need, and it will cost just $85.00!! That is almost what year of hosting would cost on it’s own!
Alright, so why move right now? The bigger your blog gets, the firmer grasp blogger gets on it. Blogger ate 62K of my 72K comments during my move. Thankfully Tanya, the brains behind Blogelina, was able to move every single one of my posts over. That was another fear of mine, losing my posts! Plus, Blogelina offers the cheapest price for moving I have ever seen, with this economy how long can she keep it that low?
Tanya started my transfer on the 23rd at around 8am, it normally takes 24-48 hours to transfer over, but apparently luck was on my side, because it took like 20 minutes! Tanya set straight to work to get Real Mom Reviews looking and working like it should. Tanya worked diligently all day, and my blog transfer was complete at 11:07 the same day it was started!
The 24th Blogelina’s designer Jen, got to work on my blog. I had t 4654 billion questions for her, and she answered as many as she could, and as you can plainly see, Real Mom Reviews looks amazing!!
I was honestly scared to transfer from Blogger to WordPress and I am still very overwhelmed when I look at the dashboard, but even after my transfer, Tanya has been great with helping me with any issues I have had. Like the dumb java script error everyone was getting, I had two spam blockers installed that Tanya fixed! I knew there was going to be a learning curve to WordPress and I get more comortable with it everytime I log on.
There is no better time to switch, blogger gets worse, and has a new issue every day. I would suggest signing up for a transfer NOW before her plate is too full to accept anyone else!
“Disclaimer- This post brought to you by Blogelina, my transfer was free in exchange for an honest opinion of Blogelinas services, and I could not be happier with my end result!

Do you like WordPress as much as Blogger? I’m new but, Blogger has had a multitude of problems and frankly I’m over it. I need to focus on my writing..Great post thank you very much. Have a great weekend.
I am loving the new look, girl! I am making the switch soon, too! Yikes! I am SO excited, and so nervous!
Okay, I have a newbie question.
I don’t have a blog, but I’m really really seriously considering starting one. Really just now to be able to express creatively about my chaotic life, cooking, being an “older” new mom (we had are first child at 43…talk about teaching old dogs new tricks), etc. At some point I may want to get into hosting giveaways and such, but for now I”m looking for a creative outlet.
I’ve heard WP is much more complicated/detailed than Blogger. Would it make sense to start on Blogger then switch over or plunge right in to WP? I’m relatively computer savvy and can learn most any program, but I wouldn’t want a new blog to overwhelm me techwise making it more of a chore than a joy.
So…any thoughts? (BTW, I bring this up because I see a lot of the blogs I’m following switch over due to recent Blogger snafus.)
Blogger is history ! Thanks for the word of advice. Google is another
no go !
Companies that large should not have problems over and over.
They are only as good as the Webmaster himself !!!! These are not
good one’s !
I love blogelina too! I use Justhost.com for hosting and if you go and try to leave a few time you can get hosting for 2 years for $80, unlimited everything! They are great too. There are some great tutorials too for moving over, I did all on my own and lost nothing!
Well, I have been very vocal on Blogger’s “help” desk at their lack of communication with all the issues the past couple of weeks. I didn’t lose any posts because I hadn’t posted that day, but I lost my Follower widget for 3 days and NOW my comment box is gone.
I’ve started a few discussions about everyone making an exodus to WP. I use WP with another group of bloggers I blog with and that dashboard is SO confusing I can’t even tell you! I don’t understand plug-ins and such. Does Blogelina charge you every time you go in and need something fixed or added?
I want to make a move because I too am OVER Blogger. I didn’t want to lose my Page Rank, but at this point, not getting new followers and not being able to have people comment is probably worse! Should’ve made this change a year ago, but I liked Blogger.
Unfortunately, my estranged husband lost his job on Thursday so there are no funds to make the transfer now. Saving up my pennies unless I can connect with someone to do a review, too. *grin* May have to go searching!
Are you still doing the Alexa hop? I was recommending it to a few people, but the button ad I have for the hop was no longer working. The redirect from blogger wasn’t working at all. I just checked it now, and it’s better in that at least now it is ending up over at your WP site, but it is still not pointing to the most recent hop.
Hmm… I am still debating the switch over… So all of your posts ported over, but you lost comments?
If I had the funds I would be ALL OVER THIS! Thanks for the info!
I switched from Blogger to a self hosted WordPress site a few years ago, and I’ve never been sorry! Stopping by to say hey from the Finding New Friends Blog Hop.
