Keeping Kids Occupied Outside!

My kids loving being outside! They will run and jump and play out there for hours! We have a relatively small yard, so myself and the kids headed to the store last month in search of some new toys just for outside! I was amazed at the selection they had! We had about ten things picked out and then narrowed it down to five! You can shop great products at Target by either at the store or online. I find that most times shopping online can be faster and cheaper so I do that quite often- I actually got the parachute below online instead of in store and saved 10.00!

The three items below have this far been my kids very favorite outdoor toys this summer!

Bubbles: My kids and many neighbor kids all love bubbles. However this year we really upped the anty when it came to bubbles. We did big bubbles, small bubbles, colored bubbles and bubbles they could eat! I could not believe how much my kids enjoyed experiencing each and every different type of bubble! This was by far the most affordable activity we did all summer!

Pool: Splashing around in the water is fun for kids of all ages. We have a small slope on our yard to I had to make sure to find one that could mold into our land. The pool above was perfect and if a kiddo falls on one of the sides- it falls with them. This pool was super affordable. 30.00 and the kids have already gotten about 10 hours of play out of it!

Parachute: This was one I was not sure about getting but am so glad I did! The kids use it like it is shown above, as well as a fort builder!  It was a bit more expensive at the store than it was online- so I instead ordered it online and saved a bit!

Did you get anything special for your kids to do this summer?

Bubbles are always a favorite for us as well. We’re in a townhouse and my oldest is still fairly young (4) so her and our next door neighbor’s kidlets sit out on the front steps with all types of bubbles.

Sidewalk chalk is another that we replace constantly. The kids will draw and color a lot, especially if I’m out with them, giving ideas. I love to set up a “stained glass window” outline and the girls fill in the spaces with all different colors.

On weekends, we pull our hoses out the back gate (our backyard as well as our neighbor’s are either hard surface or rocky so we can’t use them for play) into the common grassy area and hook up a sprinkler and fill up a pool. I just picked up a fairly long kiddie pool with splashing and a sun shade at Target that should work for all 4 of our girls.

If you don’t mind them, water guns are fun too, tho the need to keep reminding the kids not to aim at faces or in ears is constant. :P
