Strasburg Rail Road: Day Out With Thomas

Help your favorite No. 1 engine find the clues and solve the mystery! Thomas the Tank Engine is pulling out of the station for Day Out With Thomas: Mystery On The Rails Tour 2012. Presented by HIT Entertainment and sponsored by MEGA Brands, Day Out with Thomas is a fun-filled and exciting way for children and adults to enter the world of Thomas & Friends.

Day Out With Thomas provides an opportunity for kids to go on a real train ride pulled by a 15-ton replica of Thomas and have their pictures taken with Sir Topham Hatt, the controller of Thomas’ railway. The tour provides a unique, interactive family experience at every station, offering a variety of entertaining activities that reflect the local flavor of each stop.

Different forms of entertainment – from petting zoos, miniature golf, and bounce houses to face-painting and magic shows – make each Day Out With Thomas event location special. In addition, every location has a Thomas & Friends Imagination Station where you can Build with Mega Bloks and participate in other Thomas-themed activities including stamps, temporary tattoos, hands-on arts and crafts, and a Thomas storytelling and video viewing area.

We went to the Strasburg Rail Road to see Thomas. Our ticket included tons of activities including:

  • The train ride behind Thomas.
  • Visit with Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Temporary Tattoos.
  • Cranky Car Ride.
  • Pump Car Ride.
  • Track Car Ride.
  • Steam Train Ride.
  • Thomas Video & Storytelling.
  •  and more!
I was so grateful that the rides were included with the ticket prices. My kids has as much of a blast on the extra rides as they did on the train!
Once we got on the train my kids were a bit disappointed that they were not riding inside of Thomas. The conductor saw they were a bit upset and showed us special seats on the right side of our coach that would allow us to see Thomas pulling all the cars when we went around a sharp corner. Moving to that side of the coach made it possible for the kids to see Thomas and they were excited all over again!

Regular Tickets are $19.00 for ages 2 and up. Combo Tickets, which include one ride behind Thomas & and one Coach ride aboard the Strasburg Rail Road are $27.00 for ages 3 and up! See full 2012 Schedule here or visit TicketWeb.com to purchase tickets!

My neices would love this. It doesn’t come near where we live in Ca. It looks like your kids are having so much fun! I love trains which is why I live close to where the train goes by daily multiple times. I love to hear the trains whistle. Amtrak is also about 5 minutes from where I live. I like the real trains better. Thanks for sharing your fun family trip.

  8. This is amazing I never knew this existed…I would love to do this! And the price is not bad considering the list of things you got for the money. Thank you I learned about a few great places just now!

  9. I took my kids to day out with thomas and had photos taken. After a long day and two kids spending all of my money, I didn’t have the money to buy the photos that I wanted! I was told by someone else that’s there is a website where I could go and view and order the photos, but I can’t remember what it is. By any chance do you know the site to buy the photos with sir topham hatt and thomas?
