Nokia Lumia 900

Before I had kids, the only feature I needed a cell phone to have was, well the ability to call people! Since having kids my phone feature needs and the technology available for phones has tremendously changed!  I got the opportunity to try out the Nokia 900 for a few months and wanted to share my thoughts with all of you! My favorite features and more about why the phone is perfect for the on the go mom can be found below!

Nokia introduced the Lumia smartphone series at the end of 2011. Currently there are four different Nokia Lumia smartphones available: the Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800, and the Lumia 900. All the smartphones run on Microsoft Windows operating system but the Lumia 900 is the most advanced smartphone from the series and runs on Windows Phone 7.5 . The Nokia 900 has a sleek design and is equipped with a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, a 1,4Ghz single-core processor and an 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens.

Superb Camera: My phone goes everywhere with me, and as much as I would like to carry my DSLR with me to capture moments I can never get back, it is just not practical. That is why any phone I use has to have a superior camera. The Lumia features an 8 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens and a double LED flash that can capture images in any light, even a squirming toddler!

There is also a 1 megapixel camera on the front, in order to make self-portraits and video calls. Pushing the button on the right side of the phone starts up the camera with out having to go into the settings and choose the camera icon, which is great with a little one!

Superior Battery Power: For me, how long the battery lasts really matters. I need a phone that I can charge at night and use the entire next day with out having to recharge. The Lumia 900 promises 7 hours of  talk time, 300 hours of standby time, 60 hours of music playback time and 6.5 hours of video playback time and believe it or not,  actually lives up to those promises! I use my phone all day long for calls, texts, music and movies for the kids and as long as I fully charge it the night before, it lasts all day long!

Bigger Is Better: The Lumia is 127.8 mm tall and 68.5 mm wide. It is 11.5 mm thick and weighs a bit over 5.5 ounces. It is heavier than any phone I have owned before, but the screen is huge! Videos are easier to watch and apps are more fun to use!

People Hub:  The Nokia Lumia 900, features the amazing People Hub that helps “put people first” instead of apps. This application replaces the traditional contact list and links every platform your friends and family use together: contact information, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Windows Live. You can easily view all photos that your contact has placed on one of these social media sites. Plus your full contact history is also shown in the list. Whether this was via phone, a text message, an email, or via social media websites such as Facebook, everything is brought together in one unique form.

Amazing Apps: There are a ton of apps that are made for Lumia 900. There are actually two App Stores available via the start screen, one by Nokia, and one by Microsoft.

  • ‘Marketplace’ is Microsoft’s app store. You can search the general app database or search separately for games, tools or social media platforms. This store contains the apps you are most used to using- all in one convenient place!
  • ‘Amazing apps’ is Nokia’s app store, Here you can find local apps that are differentiated from ‘recommended apps’, ‘top games’ and ‘on sale’ apps. There is a separate button available named ‘Surprise me’ which I have found quite fun. When you click this and shake the phone back and forth, the phone selects an app it thinks you will like that can then be downloaded.
There is so much about the Nokia Lumia 900 I love I could be here all week telling you about them, but how about you just buy one yourself and find out!
Buy It: You can purchase the Nokia Lumia 900 from Amazon or by upgrading your current phone at a store near you!

Sounds interesting. Microsoft has a long way to go to catch up with Apple and Android, but they had a long way to go with the X-Box, too.
