If you are in the market for an larger vehicle with tons of cargo space that can tote around tons of kids then the Flex may just be the vehicle for you! The Flex stands out in a big way with a clean, simple design that is strong and bold, a head turner for sure! Sporting a two tonned paint job, black-painted mirror caps, and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with premium painted pockets the Flex is a show stopper!
Making the best use of interior space was a top priority in the design of the Flex. It’s amazing how much room there is for all seven passengers, from the first row on back to the third. Not surprisingly, 2nd- and 3rd-row leg room is best in class! This is the first vehicle I have reviewed that I had a super hard time deciding what five features I liked best- there are just so many awesome ones!
Spacious, Comfortable Seating for Seven:
The Flex features 1st-row bucket seats, 2nd-row 60/40 split bench seat and 3rd-row 50/50 split bench seat. I could easily fit seven adults in this car! The 3rd-row bench is equiped with PowerFold, which allows you to flip and fold the seat at the touch of a button. The rear seat be used in three different configurations.
- Full seven-passenger seating, with the seats upright.
- Flat load floor.
- Tailgate feature, which converts the third-row seat to a rear-facing one for recreational use at a picnic or sporting event.
The front row seats even featured heating and cooling seats!
Because of the power folding seats- I was only able to install three car seats in the Flex. However the second row seat auto folds down, which made getting to the kids in the way back easier than ever. Great for if you have three little ones in car seats and an older child or teen!
Sony Audio System with 12 Speakers:
When cruising around town in the Flex, music is a must! The Sony Audio System can kick out 390 watts of power through 12 premium speakers (including a rear subwoofer) in ten locations. It comes standard in the Flex Limited and can be upgraded with the other models. Every type of music sounds great in the Flex. We even jammed out to some Little Mermaid!
Ambient Lighting:
This is a feature I have never seen before, but is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen! There are seven color options: Ice Blue, Orange, Soft Blue, Red, Green, Blue, Purple. You choose the color you want and accents are shown in the front and rear footwells, front center console bin, and front two cup holders. This was a really neat way to personalize the car to us!
SYNC:
It is so easy as a parent to get distracted while driving. Kids, phone, radio and more. The Voice-activated SYNC helps keep eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. With hands-free calling, you’ll never miss a phone call when you’re behind the wheel. You can even use it to search your iPhone or iPod for music! You can also access 411 business search, personalized sports scores, news, horoscopes and more. Information screens, right in front of the driver display the information you want in the cluster panel and center stack. You can even have a new text messages read aloud to you!
Active Park Assist:
Parallel parking is literally my night mare. I don’t like to do it in my compact car, never mind something larger. The Flex’s active park assist is designed to take the dread out of parallel parking. It uses ultrasonic sensors, unlike other systems that use imaging devices. Simply press a button and the sensors locate a parking space. Once a spot is selected, Flex parks into place with a few simple steps on your part.
The Ford Flex I test drove had a price tag of 46,890.00, which included the panoramic vista roof, white two toned roof, power folding 3rd row seat, adaptable cruise control, Sony audio system, the SYNC system, leather trimmed seats, easy fuel capless filler, power liftgate, power folding heated mirrors, adjustable petals and ambient lighting!
You can find a dealer near you to test drive or purchase a Ford Flex Limited by clicking here.
Special thanks to Ford for letting me test drive the Ford Flex for a week.
Wow, that is a gorgeous vehicle. I love that ambient light! I also love how spacious it looks!
had one for about a week then got whacked by a speeder…im really down as the Beatles sing it
I love the active park assist, I would need it to drive a bigger vehicle – there’s a lot more to this car than I thought from the outside!
I have to say I really love this car. I have not ridden one but I have sat in one and it is so comfortable and has tons of features! if I had the money, I would so get one of these.
Now this is my kinda car. It looks like a box with wheels but it’s so cool anyways! I love all that room, good car to travel in. Thanks for the great review!
I love how roomy it is!
These are a little too “boxy” for me, but I do love all the seating and room, I just wish it looked different lol
sweet i love it
It has a lot of room in it, nice.
great review…but i can’t get over how much it reminds me of a hearse.
Every time I see a Flex I always love the way it looks. Of course, I totally appreciate how spacious it is and would really seat our family of 5 wonderfully, with room for our gear and new purchases too!
We’ve thought specifically about the Flex for if we decided to try for a 3rd child.
I love this Flex. I have a 2011 Flex and I absolutely love it. It is the most comfortable car I have ever ridden in. Driving it is a dream – it is easy to handle. I have a silver Flex and would love to have a red one. The one in this review has become my new dream car.
This is a great “roomy” yet stylish vehicle that will comfortably fit my GROWING family (daughter-in-laws & grandchildren) for all traveling needs.
I would love this it looks real nice and big the whole family could go on trips and be comfy even the dog could go wow what a great suv
Holy cow, this car is awesome! We’ve been looking at getting a new van/suv and honestly this one wasn’t even on our radar. I guess I kinda think it’s unattractive looking. But the features more than make up for that!
Looks pretty awesome inside
I love this vehicle! It is spunky like me but also a great vehicle for taking the kids to where they need to be!
Aesthetically, I really like the look of the Ford Flex. Practically, I love that it has third row seating, looks like a great, roomy family car!
I have not been a fan of Fords, however, the Flex looks really cool 🙂
i love this car. this is the car that i want.
love this car, my cousin has one and its a great vehicle. nice and roomy
This would be something to look into for our next purchase. Love all the room and it looks adorable!
Wow this is Awesome. 2 big for just the 2 of us but it sure would be Great for a Large family!
Wow! This looks like an awesome vehicle! I will have to show this to hubby. The seating & amount of room is amazing!
I think the Ford Flex would be just about perfect for me ad my family. I have this…the size is just amazing.
This is a nice car. I like Ford cars.
I’m a Ford girl and love my Eclipse. This looks a little more roomier
This is a cool car! I drive a toyota truck but I’d buy a Ford if I could afford one.
Really nice ride!
It has a really cool look, but I somehow have a feeling that the gas mileage isn’t so cool…how did that work out for you?
looks nice ad with lots of space
Actually the gas milage isn’t that bad I get an average of 18.9 mpg city driving
The Ford Flex looks very nice. Thanks for the interesting and informative review!
Beautiful spacious design!
It looks so roomy. Much more open than any of our vehicles.
Amazing looking vehicle! Go Ford!
Love this. Looks like there’s plenty of room for my family.

I love the ford flex. They have alot of room for someone with a big family!
The new Explorer seems to have a lot more room and look very comfortable for a long trip
This looks like a really great vehicle. There would be plenty of room for my 3 kids so they wouldn’t have to feel cramped and it also has some pretty cool features.
Nice looking inside & very roomy. However, $46,890.00….REALLY! 🙁
Just Recently Bought a Ford Focus 2012 and it is a very nice Ride .
Love the updated look of these! I need an SUV/Crossover like this.
really love my escape, will get another ford when I am ready for a new one.
very spacious! I never saw the inside of a flex before. I am a fan of fords..
My daughters would LOVE the park assist !!!
I love the parking features! I absolutely hate parallel parking, and avoid it at all costs!
I love the color! The Ford Flex looks like a good alternative to a straight-up minivan or SUV. At first glance I thought it looked a bit like a stretch Mini Cooper. 🙂 The power folding seats as well as the seat heating and cooling are nice features.
Very nice! We currently have a ford van I like their cars, this one looks roomy and sleek!
I love the look of the Ford Flex. And, yes, I need lots of cargo space. Thanks for the review.
wow very nice car, I might have to get one! thanks for the review.
What a cute vehicle! I love how roomy it is!
Oh how I love the way this vehicle looks inside. I could live in this thing. However, I’m not a fan of the exterior, too boxy.
I LOVE mine!! Best choice we could have made when upgrading from our old van!
Love how big it is but I’m not thinking it is my style in vehicles
This is some amazing car with all the room and seating area. I like the color, and this is a well made car that will last for years. I would sure love to own it!
We love Ford vehicles but need room for more cargo (lumber, soil etc) than passenger seating. So an F350 crew cab suits us. I do like this review for a great comfortable family vehicle though.
I’m not sure I like the look of it, but I love all that space! Those seats look truly comfortable and luxurious. Plenty of room for a family to take a trip in. A wonderful, comfortable, spacious vehicle!
Wow, what a family car. I really like the room between the rows!
I have a 2011 flex we just bought used with 17,000 miles and all sorts of warranties for a great price.
I love this car!!! We had two scion xbs a 2006 and 2009 so we
Don’t think to much out of the box. Haha great car! Couldn’t be happier.
Seatbelt installation is just as safe as LATCH installation.
