Many people feel that man-made home décor simply can’t compete with the beauty that nature can offer, but they may not know how to artistically incorporate nature’s beauty into their homes. If you want your home to look more natural, comforting and simplistic, here are a few tips for adding natural beauty to your home décor.
Bring a touch of nature into your home: You don’t have to go crazy when trying to incorporate natural beauty into your home. In fact, the most subtle natural accents are usually all that is required to make your home feel more in-touch with the outdoors. When decorating with natural elements, try using the lightest of touches such as a fresh bouquet of flowers on a bathroom countertop or a basket of pinecones on a wooden end table. You can also combine man-made and natural beauty by arranging willow branches in a simplistic or modern vase. You can even decorate with food items such as fruits. Instead of stashing your fruit away in a cupboard where it can’t be seen, try arranging it in a simple woven basket or placing it in a brightly-colored bowl on the countertop. Not only will such an arrangement provide an unexpected splash of color, but it will also bring a feeling of health and wellness to your home.
In your family room or living room, consider adding a touch of natural beauty to your fireplace mantel by adorning it with seashells from your latest trip to the beach or by placing an intriguing piece of driftwood on a corner of your mantel. You can even place colorful and oddly shaped pebbles and rocks in various places in your home to add just a touch of natural beauty and interest to any area.
Artwork: Artwork is a fantastic way to bring the beauty of nature into your home. Whether you prefer watercolor paintings, bright oil paintings or unadulterated photographs, artwork can bring fantastically beautiful outdoor scenes right into your home. When you are choosing natural artwork, think about the types of scenes that you prefer. Do you like pictures of natural wonders, or do you prefer paintings of fields and meadows? Do you feel attracted to pictures of aspens in the fall, or do you prefer still winter landscapes? If you think in advance about the type of natural artwork that you are most drawn to you will have an easier time choosing the perfect artwork for the various rooms in your home.
Incorporate textures: One of the most beautiful things about nature is the many different textures that come together to form the beauty of the natural world around us. If you want to make your home feel more earthy and authentic, consider incorporating natural textures into your home. For example, try to choose wallpaper and other materials that are made from natural sources or that mimic the feel of natural materials. Homespun fabrics, bamboo, cork, and natural grasses are just a few of the materials that you can incorporate into your home.
If you follow these helpful tips you will be able to transform your house into a home that is glowing with natural and authentic beauty.

Great collections of candles. I am looking forward of collecting more of them. Thanks for the tips.
Great article on “sprucing” up our homes. I remember as a child growing up in a home where my mom did not have a lot of disposable income for “friperies” and yard sales were a thing of the future. She often times would pick lilacs or pussy willows and do small arrangements. These added fresh scents to our home and to this day the smell of lilacs brings right back to my childhood. She also used to get old sample books of wallpaper from the paint store and take ones she liked to frame and make pretty pictures.
My husband is a painter and we certainly get good use out of his paintings for original decorative pieces! Also, great conversation pieces!
I am so glad that you posted where to purchase the lighted weeping willow branches! That really will become a wonderful accent in my hall way. It grabbed my attention right away!
Great article I agree that texture is a great thing to consider for home decor
Great ideas! I especially love the suggestion of featuring willow branches and maybe even adding some soft lighting with them.
Thanks for the great tips I see you use some of the things I do but you did inspire me with some new ones………….I love to reuse stuff that I already have and mix it up sometimes!
i’ve seen those light-up branches and liked them, but i think that other people i know would think they are tacky. real ones, hung with ornaments, are a nice holiday look.
