Angelcare AC403 Movement & Sound Baby Monitor

Disclosure: The Movement & Sound Baby Monitor featured below was sent compliments of Angelcare.

I remember bringing my first baby home. I sat there looking at her {her twin was still in the NICU} and literally saying “What now?” I did the only thing I could do, laid her down in her crib so she could continue sleeping and left the room. From that point on, her baby monitor was my constant companion.

When you have a baby, a monitor is one of the most important things you can buy. You can’t sit and watch baby sleeping, ever vigilant for a problem, 24/7. You have to eat, shower, answer the phone… You know, life stuff. But while life goes on, your heart is asleep, unattended, in another room.

When I brought my twins home just over 12 years ago, baby monitors consisted of a hand held unit that had a green colored line that told you the level of noise in the nursery and a speaker. Today though, they’re are so advanced- like the baby monitors available at Angelcare.Angelcare AC403 Angelcare sent me the AC403 to review and I am so excited to use it with baby!

This movement & sound monitor has lots of extra features that will keep you reassured. The under-the-mattress sensor pad lets you know within 20 seconds if no movement is detected in the crib and the nursery unit sends all the sounds baby makes to your portable parent unit – which even comes with an audio “tic” option so you know it’s on and a “vibration” mode, so the alarm won’t disrupt precious quiet time.

I can’t believe how far they have come in the decade since I last had one. They do so much now like video, movement, alarms…The Angelcare AC403 is no exception with over 10 features.Angelcare AC403 SensorUnder-the-Mattress Movement Sensor Pad: Put this thin pad under your crib mattress and an alarm will sound when there is no movement for 20 seconds. You can adjust the sensitivity of the Movement Sensor, too!Angelcare AC403 Parental Unit Full Color Digital Display: Displays nursery temp and alerts you if it’s too high or low. Also includes “sound lights” so you can see how much noise baby is making.

Audio “Tic” Feature: If you’re worried that the monitor isn’t working because it’s so quiet, you can turn on the “Auto TIC” and hear a ticking sound to reassure you that everything is working fine.

Portable & Rechargeable Parent Unit – If you are like most moms and dads, you take advantage of the moments baby is sleeping to get things done around your home. So carry the Parent Unit with from room to room for peace of mind whatever you are doing. There is even an indicator for when the battery is getting low.

Temperature Display and Control (F°) – The greatest concern for moms and dads is baby’s safety, sleeping alone in the nursery. Is baby comfortable? Is the room too warm or too cold? The Angelcare AC403 baby monitor displays the temperature in baby’s room on the Parent Unit and alerts you if it is too high or too low.

Nursery Night Light: You can turn on the night light for a gentile glow. Perfect for entering the nursery while baby is sleeping!

Volume Control & Vibration Alert: In case you’re keeping an ear on a sleeping baby and your toddler falls asleep in your arms. You can still see what is going on, but no alarms will wake your other “baby.” There is also a mute function.

Batteries or Mains Operated – The battery option makes this system ideal for travel. Then, when you are at home, you can use the AC adapter to save your batteries for when you need them.

Set up is a little complicated. First of all, you’re going to need a 13″ X 13″, 1/4″ thick board for the Movement Sensor. You need a completely rigid surface and most crib mattress springs have a little give. So, be prepared for that! In the picture above, I used some old flooring we had laying around. Secondly, you need to place the nursery unit within a certain distance of the movement sensor so make sure to read the instructions carefully before you start.

Also, the Sensor Pad can only be used with a regulatory standard baby mattress, whatever the size or thickness. However, it cannot be used with a memory foam mattress, a dual sided, a mattress with a hollow frame or a Purflo mattress. Most quality mattresses on the market this monitor can not be used with.
