Set on 200 acres of rolling farmland in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Hershey RV Camping preserve is enclosed in a natural valley of grassy fields, sloping down to a small fishing lake.Open April to the last weekend of October there are 320 sites to choose from in five different loops.Upon checking in, the first thing you will see is the ranger station. I immediately felt at home and safe! The entrance to the park features dual security gates on the way in and security spike strips on way out so no one can drive in that way. To get into the park, you must have reservations and the keycode or stop and speak with a ranger. The ranger station is an excellent source of information for new (or returning) guests. We were lucky enough to get a large, grassy spot in H loop. These spots fill up fast because they have free 50 Amp power. Our site is much larger than I expected and a quick drive around the entire park showed us that many of the sites are huge and would give us plenty of room to park our 40 foot 5th wheel. The campground is jam packed with amenities. There is a large clubhouse and basketball court.A huge swimming pool and adult only spa.
A large sand filled playground. As well as shuffleboard, mini golf (clubs are free, balls are $1.50!), volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, tennis court and a library. My kids favorite spot our entire visit was the lake It features two docks for fishing. We saw many people catching fish and caught ourselves a snapping turtle! My husband and I were both shocked at the amount of open space inside Hershey Thousand Trails Resort. There is easily enough room for another hundred sites. But instead of squishing everyone on top of each other, they allow space between you and your neighbor as well as many open areas for the wildlife to play in! (The entire park is filled with geese and ducks, watch out for their droppings!)Located only six miles away is Hershey’s Chocolate World (rides and live entertainment), Hershey Amusement Park, ZooAmerica, plus many golf courses and 3 major shopping outlet centers. A bit further out you will also find Amish settlements and the Indian Echo Caverns.
Grocery shopping while staying here has been very easy. There is a Walmart super center just 8 miles away and Country View Grocery is only 1.5 miles away. Laundry can be done right on property in any one of their many laundry facilities.
