Growing up one of my very favorite TV shows was Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! I can even remember my favorite episode, the one with the lizard man. He had tattooed his entire body with scales and even had his tongue cut in half to look more like a reptile. I was more excited than a kid in a candy store when I realized there was a Ripley’s Museum in Orlando and put it on my must see list right away. The 10,000 square foot “Odditorium” delights right off the bat with the outside experience. The building actually looks like it’s falling into a Florida sinkhole!Inside hundreds of fascinating, outrageous and interactive exhibits entertain all ages.Sixteen unique galleries showcase an unbelievable variety of artifacts that pay tribute to everything odd and strange. Inside we saw the tallest man, the largest man, the smallest spoon ever made and a 6,500lb tire.
The tour is self-guided and self-paced which allows you to look at as many or as few of the attractions as you want.I found that our kids really wanted to rush through everything to discover what was through the next door, so we opted to go through all 16 attractions, go get a snack and then go through it again. The museum is open from 9AM to 11PM 365 days a year. Adult admission is $19.99, children 4-12 are $12.99 and children under 3 are free.If you buy tickets online you can save $3 on an adult ticket and $2 off a childs. You can purchase tickets and read more about Orlando’s Ripley’s Believe It Or Not by clicking here.
Ripley’s Believe it or Not! has always amazed me. I’d love to visit one of their museums someday. Looks like a fun place.
I have always wanted to go here! I am such a fan of the whole concept. My dad even bought me one of their books as a present. When I was growing up, I loved watching the tv show that was hosted by actor Jack Palance and his daughter Holly. I always found him to a little bit scary in a fun way! It would be so much fun to see all of these world-reknowned exhibits in person.
