When I became pregnant with my second daughter I knew that I would nurse her, no question about it. With my first daughter I used an older Boppy pillow that was small and hard. I ended up using a softer pillow after the first few days because of how uncomfortable it was. I am a fuller figured woman so I needed a pillow that was a bit less constricting. When I first used the Gia Angled Pillow by Dr. Brown’s I was amazed at how unique it was and was so excited to give it a try!
- Angled feeding may help digestion and help reduce reflux & other feeding problems.
- Wider, flatter pillow surfaces help prevent baby from rolling down.
- Pateneted, non flat design postions baby at an incline.
- Grows with your baby with viritually limitless nursing positions.
The material is over the Gia is quilted 100% Cotton, anti-bactirial and stain resistant and is machine washable and can be used with or without the cover.
While in the hospital I contemplated using the Boppy or the Gia pillow. I asked my mom to bring up both but she could only find my Boppy. I knew the issues I had with it before but it was that or hospital pillows. I had the same issues using the Boppy with Mallorie that I did with Makenzi- I could only get a good latch on one side. It was frustrating, anyone who has nursed knows the importance of a good latch.
Right when we got home it was time for Mallorie to nurse. I was so excited to finally get to try out the Gia Pillow. Sitting down to nurse with this soft pillow was so nice. Not only the softness of the Gia pillow but the angle of the Gia Pillow also helped me get a good latch on both sides! Success!
The Gia Pillow is large with a C shape which is perfect for woman of all shapes and sizes. The wider side of the pillow is also thicker allowing baby to lay on the pillow at an angle. The angle is helpful to keep the baby comfortable while feeding and to aid in digestion. As the baby grows you can flip the pillow to the narrow side that will allow for a good fit.
I love how soft and open the pillow is. The wideness makes it easier when I need to use both hands when my 3 year old brings things to me that she needs help with. I can attest to it being stain resistant, it got ketchup on it and it came off so easily and did not stain! I do not like that it doesn’t come with a cover. You can buy the covers but there isn’t much of a selection and to be honest, with the pillow being white and all a cover of some sort should be included. My wedding rings snag the quilted threads when I slide my head under her head to lift her. Other than that I truly love the Gia Angled Nursing Pillow. It has made nursing so easy and comfortable for us.
Buy It: You can purchase the Gia Nursing Pillow for around 25.00!!
I wish they would of had a nursing like this Gia pillow when I had my sons. I’m a grandma to new granddaughter, but my daughter-in-law isn’t breast feeding. If she was I would get this for her. When she was pregnant, she used a hand me down nursing pillow to put between her legs while sleeping. I don’t know what kind it was, but she said it did help her.
Megan, you have a sweet baby, keep up the good job of nursing. Proud of you for nursing your baby!!
Thanks!!!
Donna, thank you so much. I truly enjoy nursing. I didn’t nurse my first daughter as long but I plan to with this one. It’s such a great experiance.
Oh what a lovely photo of the mother and baby! I really would have wished to have this back when I had my daughter – she is a toddler now. I had a boppy and it was so hard to adjust or keep her comfortable on it. The boppy wasn’t angled and had no shape. I make sure to get this product for my friend’s baby shower!
It’s so important to be comfortable when nursing…so glad someone’s finally made a nursing pillow that fits everyone’s body!
