Sometimes the most educational toys are the simplest toys-- toys with lots of open-ended possibilities that encourage young minds to think, to create and to explore. The best of these toys provide progressive layers of challenge for children to discover as they grow. At their very best, these toys encourage exploration, reward discovery and empower our children. Blocks are one of those toys that can do all that and more and BathBlocks allow your child to bring classic block play into a fun, new, fascinating watery environment. The bathtub is the perfect place to create waterslides, ball runs, … [Read more...]
Quick & Easy Fried Rice
I love fried rice! What I do not love is how much one small, white take out box with a metal handle is. It's almost nine dollars for a box of rice around here, which is just an insane price to pay. I did a bit of searching online for Fried Rice recipes and really couldn't find one I thought I our family would enjoy. So instead I winged it! I wanted something that would not cost an arm and a leg, would still taste good and could use up some of our left overs. What I ended up with, is a new family favorite! 4 cups rice, left over works best 4-5 left over chicken tenderloins 1 cup left … [Read more...]
WorryWoo Fuddle
The WorryWoo Monsters, a series by Andi Green, was first seen in a New York art exhibition in 2001. Originally called The Monsters in My Head, Green wanted to create characters with a story that each embodied an emotion. Using her design and illustration background she built 5 light boxes each containing a monster with its story Xerox-transferred to the front of the box. From loneliness to confusion, she began tackling complicated feelings and transformed them into quirky, loveable characters. Her message of “embrace your emotions” received such a positive response, she was asked by many if she ever … [Read more...]

It cost us around 35.00, with the purchase of paint brushes and superglue because we did not have one. All you need for this project is round piece of tree, light yellow paint, dark yellow paint, black paint, … [Read more...]

100th Day Of School Melted Crayon Art Project
About a week ago Ethan came home from school more excited than I had seen him in a while. He quickly dug around in his backpack and handed me a note from his teacher about the upcoming 100th day of school! Ethan had to find 100 of something and bring them in to share with the class. There were a few ideas, like 100 cheerios on a string, or 100 beads in a bottle- however I wanted to do something special with him that his teacher would be really impressed with! It just so happens that exact day, Heather from Our Kids Mom posted an amazing melted crayon art project she did with her daughter and I knew that … [Read more...]
