The second we exited the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel in Virginia Beach I knew our first stop was going to be the beach! The water was calm, the weather perfect and the kids overly excited to splash around in the waves! Upon checking into Virginia Beach Resort Hotel the front desk manager suggested if we wanted to have a blast at their private beach, we visited the Happy Winds Rental Shack, so we did!!
The Happy Winds Rental Shack is located directly behind the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel on Chesapeake Bay. They offer tons of different equipment rentals to make your beach visit a blast as well as lounge chairs, umbrellas and cabana sets. Equipment rentals are available by the half or full day, as well as by hour.m Chair and shade rentals are available for a half day or a full day. 
After much consideration Ethan decided they would most like to try out a kayak and Carlee agreed to at least try it out. Dalton, a friendly and helpful Happy Winds employee fitted them both with life vests and drug our kayak down to the ocean. Then he gave them each a lesson on how to paddle! 
Ethan took to the kayak immediately. Paddling all around, even faster than I could swim after him. The look of joy on his face when he was completely out of my reach was quite priceless.
Once he got the hang of it, he no longer wanted mom to follow him around so I retreated to our chair and umbrella rental to catch some shade and some Z’s!
Each chair came with a foot rest that was perfect for kicking my feet up on and getting super comfortable. The umbrella provided an excellent amount of shade, that was perfect size for Caleb to lay down in and take a quick nap. I was overly appreciative to have a sturdy Happy Winds umbrella as I saw other families struggling with the beach umbrellas they brought from home.
