Indian Lakes RV Campground – Batesville, IN

Indian Lakes RV CampgroundLocated just a short drive from Cincinnati, Indian Lakes RV Camping Resort is a lovely resort that is packed with things to do. With over 800 sites, there is truly something for everyone.Indian Lakes RV CampgroundThe park is divided into four phases. The first phase is for people looking to keep their camper there year round. The second phase has water and electric hook ups and is split between Thousand Trails and KOA campers. The third phase has water and electric and the fourth and final phase features full hook-ups. Phases 2, 3 and 4 are walking distance to many amenities, so I greatly appreciated that they kept annuals in phase 1 as many of them have golf carts.Indian Lakes RV CampgroundWe had no problem at all getting a full hook-up site. Setting up took no time at all, as our site was rather level. It had rained recently, so the grass was a bit mushy which really made me appreciate that the gravel space was big enough for our 42 foot 5th wheel and truck.

Spacious Sites For Any Size Rig

Indian Lakes RV CampgroundOur site was perfect. We had a huge side yard, quiet neighbors and a gorgeous fire pit. The playground was only a short walk from our front door. We could actually sit around the fire and see the kids playing at the park.Indian Lakes Campground

Huge Playground

Speaking of the park… This is the best park we have ever seen at a campground.Indian Lakes PlaygroundThe kids spent hours at the park. Caleb finally became brave enough to go down the slide himself.Indian Lakes PlaygroundAnd Ethan mastered the monkey bars.Indian Lakes PlaygroundThe fitness section of the park makes up for the fact that there is no inside gym. I attempted to do flips and tricks I did in school with the kids one day and let me telllll you, I felt it the next day!Indian Lakes Fitness Area

Adult Activities

Right next to the large park you can find an area to play corn hole…Indian Lakes Corn HoleHorseshoe pits and a large sand volleyball area (that is also used quite often for the kids to build sandcastles).Indian Lakes Horse ShoesAnd a gorgeous new basketball court with button activated lights so you can play ball till the park closes at 11.Indian Lakes Basketball CourtNot too far from the park is their large mini golf site.Indian Lakes Mini GolfAll equipment for the above activities is provided free of charge, all you have to do is stop at the Country Store.Indian Lakes StoreThe country store also has pool toys, snacks, bug spray and many other odds and ends that can save you a trip to an actual store.Indian Lakes StoreJust up the road from the park is a lodge with lots of things to do inside in case the weather doesn’t cooperate with your stay. The interior of the lodge could use a bit of updating, but it works well nonetheless. There was air hokey, ping pong and Foosball as well as a television that’s connected to DirectTV.Indian Lakes CampgroundThe other side of the lodge has a pool table, poker tables and a large sectional with TV.

Gorgeous Lake

The lake was one of our favorite places at Indian Lakes. Evening walks seemed complete thanks to the music by the bullfrogs..Indian Lakes CampgroundAnd the gorgeous reflections of the sun going down on the lake.Indian Lakes CampgroundIndian Lakes has a large pool and a kiddy pool that are both patrolled by lifeguards and open from Memorial Day to Labor day. We attempted to swim the day it opened and the water was freezing! I went back on Memorial Day to at least get a few pictures for you and found the pool had been drained. Someone snuck into the pool late Sunday night and “vandalized” it.

Thankfully, Indian Lakes gets its name because of the lake it is on- which is perfect for swimming AND has an awesome slide.Indian Lakes CampgroundWe had no issues finding things to do, places to visit and stores to shop in during our stay. The actual town of Batesville is just 5 minutes away and has a Kroger, a coin laundry mat with large washers and quite a few fast food restaurants (KFC, Steak & Shake, Skyline Chili, Dairy Queen, Arbys and more). Cincinnati is about a half hour away and has everything you could possibly need.

Our stay at Indian Lakes was perfect, even with the rain we had a blast and were able to find something to do every single day. I highly suggest visiting this park if you are ever in the area and looking for an amazing campground. Don’t have an RV? No problem. They also offer a large selection of rental accommodations for guests including rustic cabins fully-equipped with kitchens and baths.

There is one thing we didn’t like about this park, and feel you need to be prepared for it. The check in gate. I appreciated that the park had a gate and only people with codes could get in, but the way they give out the codes does not work. It’s not a pin number, like all other Thousand Trails parks I have visited, it is a piece of paper with a barcode on it. It literally has to be swiped 5-6 times in good weather, and 10-12 times in bad weather to get the gate to open. The majority of people that are coming in and out are either in a large truck or a motorhome and as you can see below, the place you have to swipe the card is not reachable in our truck. Id really like to see the outdated card reader changed into a push button system OR at the guy at the ranger station open the gate for those with hang tags. He watched us struggle one day for 10 minutes at the gate, when I finally (ticked off at this point) got out and asked him to open the darn gate!13324394_10208454102984360_1958665994_o

Looks like a pretty nice campgroud. I like all the extras they offer. I wouldnt be there, too much like my own state, but I bet those wanting a taste of the Midwest (Kinda) this would be a great stop off. It looks clean and well maintained.
