If you are looking for a fun and educational place to visit then I highly suggest you check out Kreider Farms! The Kreider Farms Farm Tour is a 90-minute dairy farm tour that offers you and your group an amazing view of the Kreider farm! This includes a drive down the middle of a Titanic-sized loafing barn! You will also see the milking merry-go-round and get to taste some of the amazing milk Kreider cows produce!
The entire tour is filled with facts and humor, and any age and group size is welcome! (However- please note that all tours are made by reservation only!)
You start your tour at the Manheim Grill & Restaurant on Rt. 72 in Manheim. Your delightful tour guide will show up in a Kreider Farms uniform, with a “farm tour” flag on top of their vehicle. He or she will place a flag on your vehicle and instruct you to turn your radio to a specific station. This will allow you to hear your tour guide the entire time you are following them in your own vehicle. You drive your vehicle for the majority of the tour with the exception of getting out at the farm to see the Milking Carousel, where the milking takes place.
The drive from the Manheim Grill & Restaurant to the farm is relatively short. During the trip your tour guide will tell you all about the history of the farm. What started as a 103 acres farm with a dozen dairy cows, and 200 chickens has now grown to over 2,500 acres with over 1,500 dairy cows and over 2 million chickens!
You can view the Kreider Farm chicken coups from afar, but because humans carry certain germs that can make chickens sick the actual inside of the coups is not included in the tour.
Our tour guide taught us all about silos, and how dangerous they were! My kids were very interested in the pile of tires and amazed to find out that under all those tires was food for the cows!
I assumed that my kids very favorite part of the tour would be the cows- but my boys were just as amazed at the farm equipment as they were the cows!
One of our favorite parts of the tour was the Cow Palace. The huge loafing bar has a road smack down the middle of it! We were able to drive in and see all the cows waiting to be milked! Milking all of the cows is a full time, 24 hour a day job. Each of the cows is milked three times per day!
When we got to the milking parlor we were all able to get out of the vehicle. Our tour guide explained to us exactly how Kreider milks their cows and asked the kids all sorts of silly questions- most of which they got right!
The milking merry-go-round- by far was the best part of the tour. The cow walks into the stall, is sprayed with a special disinfectant and then a farm hand puts the milking machine on each of the cows udders! The cow rides the eight minute circle around and then gets backs themselves off!
After watching the cows get milked- each of us got a ½ pint of Kreider Farms fresh milk! You could pick either chocolate or white milk!
I am very pleased to report that our entire family had fun at Kreider Farms! It was fun, not to long of a tour and very informative. My kids learn the best when they are having fun and now they understand where their milk comes from!

You guys had lots of fun!
Loved the tour, they only thing that really bothered me was there were no cow’s outside grazing! I always see cow’s outside grazing in the grass. I don’t know why. They where all penned up! Why was that? They looked healthy, they ate well, they had water to drink, even a buffer. I enjoyed my trip very much, but would of loved to see the cow’ grazing in the fields
My kids really really wanted to touch them!!!
we were here two weeks ago and it was a great learning experience for my 4 and 5 year olds. Afterward headed to Lititz for a tour of Sturgis Pretzle original factory and time in the beautiful park in Lititz.
I’d like to take the tour but it’s a bit far from Denver. Glad everyone enjoyed it.
I love that you can drive a portion of the tour and then get to taste the yummy end result! Looks like a great time.

What is the cost of the tour?
When my family and I vacationed in Pennsylvania, my mom and I went bananas for Kreider’s milk at a local diner. I did not know this tour was available but it sounds like a lot of fun!
