La-Z-Boy PowerReclineXR

La-Z-Boy is a pretty common household name. They are actually one of the world’s leading furniture producers for homes like mine and yours! However everyone knows that La-Z-Boy is best known for their world-famous recliners. Their recliners are used for nursing mothers, football fanatics and anyone looking for maximum comfort. Each and every La-Z-Boy recliner made helps its owner live life comfortably by adding the perfect seat to any living situation!

Brand new from La-Z-Boy is the most amazing innovation in reclining I have ever sat in; the PowerReclineXR! The PowerReclineXR offers a completely customized movement for a completely customized recline. With just the simple touch of a button, there are literally thousands of positions this chair can achieve! Instead of your usual bar or lever you move the back of the chair and leg rest of the chair with the simple push of a button!

It took me forever to decide where I wanted to put my PowerReclineXR chair! I wanted it somewhere where it was used often, as La-Z-Boys are known to last for a very long time even when used daily! I finally decided to put it in our TV room. That way I can use it when on my Laptop, and hubby can use it during football season or when playing XBox.

The chair is now the most sought after seat in the house. We were sent a Maverick which is one of La-Z-Boys plusher models. The bucket seat and biscuit-style back offers the ultimate in relaxation! Coupled with generously padded arms, I have to be made to sleep in my bed instead of this chair! This is the official night time story chair- and is perfect size for two kids to snuggle in with me and dive into a book!

Even though you can not see the inside, there are two dedicated motors that move the PowerReclineXR chair. One that controls the back of the chair and one that controls the leg rest!

One of the things I was concerned about was Emmitt crawling around on the floor while one of the kids was using the chair. I was petrified that the leg rest would close on him if one of the kids was not paying attention and just playing with the remote. You can imagine how relieved I was when I read (and tested) that the leg rest will not close when it encounters an object in its path. I actually tried to close the leg rest with a balloon under it to see how hard the object needed to be “squished” before the motor would realize that there was something in it’s path. I was overjoyed when the balloon did not pop! Five stars in safety from me!

I know that a recliners main function is to recline- however I also like to have a chair I can rock a fussy baby to sleep in. Thankfully my PowerReclineXR also smoothly rocks back and forth!

Because the chair moves up and down with a remote I was a bit worried about what would happen if the power went out! Would I be stuck in the chair? Of course not. This baby has a battery backup made specifically to protect against power failures! The battery back-up will return the chair to the upright position in the event of a power outage.

You can get a La-Z-Boy PowerReclineXR in practically every style chair! Models include “Pinnacle,” “Anderson”,“Maverick”, “Joshua”, “Lancer”, and “Morgan” and an additional 40 styles will offer the technology upgrade by the end of 2012.

Buy It: The PowerReclinerXR by La-Z-Boy recliner is available at any La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery near you as well as at www.la-z-boy.com! Prices depend on the style and fabric you choose!

Wow, I’ve never seen a power chair like this. It’s soooo difficult to lift the footrest part of our recliner. Probably because it’s very old. This looks amazing. Thanks for the review.

I’ve got to get me one of these! We have a regular La-Z-boy, but this new chair is fabulous. I’ve always trusted the La-Z-boy name for quality and durability, but can’t wait to try one of these PowerReclineXRn chairs. I especially like the fact that there are multiple position to select from.

This is exactly what my husband and I need to buy his grandpa. He’s nearing that age where he won’t be around much longer, so we’ve decided to buy him a reclining chair so he’ll be as comfortable as possible while he’s still with us. I’m glad I read this post. I think I’m sold <3

I’ve always wanted a La-Z-Boy recliner! And someday I will have one – I’m making that vow right now. I love the safety feature too. I didn’t even know that a chair could do something like that. Technology can be amazing sometimes. When I get mine (I said when not if!) I will be sure to get the one with the safety feature.

From family experience lazy boy last for a very long long time, I would love to have one to snuggle up in.

  29. La-Z-boy has been around forever it seems. They are great recliners . i like now because instead of trying to pull the lever all you have to do is push a button. Makes it really nice if your an older person. I like the sleek new designs of the chairs too. Also love the idea of how it helps if something is under the leg rest when it closes . I always worried about that with the kids and the cats. Thanks for the great chairs

  30. I love Lazy Boy chairs! My dad had one for years when I was growing up and we have had one for many years too. Top of the line in comfort!

  48. cylina williams says

  49. La-Z Boy recliners have been around for so long they are part of every home. I remember my Dad when he bought his first La-Z Boy recliner he was so proud, and even though we kids sat in it when Dad came home we jumped up because we all knew that was his chair..lol. I felt the same way when I got my recliner a few years ago. Your review is great and makes me want the new PowerRecline XR!

  50. I would love one of these. My back and hips hurt me constantly. Being able to relax in a chair would be very helpful.

  51. Liz McComas says

My parents have ALWAYS had at least one La-Z-Boy recliner in this home and I can tell you that even the “normal” ones are incredibly comfortable. My dad and I both have severe degenerative disc disease (I’ve already had 2 back surgeries and I’m only 30) and these recliners are so incredibly easy on our backs/legs and help bring comfort after a super painful day. Thanks for sharing your review on the power recliner — I’m going to pass it on to my dad!

  52. Fee (Phyllis) Roberts says

I would love to have me a Lazy Boy!

  53. Robin Quick says

I love my Laz-Z-Boy recliners! We have 2 right now & they are worn out. So its time for new ones. I wish we could afford to replace them right now because Im loving these new styles!

  54. Oh man, I could totally use one of those! I need a big comfy chair to just relax in!

  55. Gina Brickell says

I think the best part of these is that they are motorized. I have a nice comfortable rocker at home and love the chair itself but would love it even more if I could get the leg rest down after i put it up. I have a heck of a time with it and wish that one had the motor! LaZBoy makes some great furniture and these really look nice as well.

  56. La-Z-Boy has the best recliners, hands down. Good to know the PowerReclineXR has a battery backup!

  57. Vicky Roark says

Less than two years ago we purchased a La-z-boy recliner. I already had three Flexsteel sofas, one 8 years old and two 6 years old. Two are in a family room and get constant use. Long story but the 8 year old and 6 year old sofas are in the family room and are identical except that one is two years older. Both still look show-room new. We just replaced the La-z-boy recliner because it looked 20 years old, not two. We were tired of having to pick up pieces of plastic that fell off the bottom of the chair. I bought La-z-boy because La-z-boy is synonymous with recliners. What a mistake. This time I did my homework and found that Flexsteel also make recliners and all their frames are truly steel. If you want any upholstered furniture, look at Flexsteel. For just a few dollars more, you will many more years of use.
