Even before having my children, I knew I wanted them to use a pacifier. Both Emmitt and Carlee are my pacifier kids- we call them binkys in our house. Ethan hated them and would not take one.
Oddly enough, I was only able to breastfeed Ethan for 5 months, yet my binky baby Carlee nursed for 14 months until she weaned herself and Emmitt is still going strong. There are so many choices out there for good binkys, and to be honest, your child is going to decide which one they prefer. When packing for the hospital with Emmitt, the only binky I packed was the GumDrop from Hawaii Medical. I am pleased to say, he loves it!
I loved the way the GumDrop looked. I really loved that it was all one piece. This makes them super easy to clean and I don’t have to worry about them collecting dirt in odd crevices or worse, coming apart. All GumDrops are made of medical quality silicone and are latex, Phthalate and BPA free.

GumDrops have a nifty hole in the handle, so I can attach a clip to them and not lose it. It is so stressful to be searching for the missing binky as a newborn is screaming bloody murder- of course a missing binky happens every time I don’t use a clip.

GumDrop binkys come in four colors- blue, lavender, pink and orange- and two scents- vanilla or natural unscented. Yes that is right, a vanilla binky! Emmitt doesn’t seem to know the difference between the vanilla verses the unscented, but I can! The vanilla smells so yummy.
Emmitt has been using the Gumdrop since he was hours old. We have had no issues with breastfeeding and the binky really is a lifesaver in our house. It helps us get through car rides, soothe himself to sleep, and to tie him over when he is hungry if I am in the restroom/shower- I swear he is hungry the second I step into a bathroom!
One thing that I need to address is that the GumDrop Pacifiers sold in stores are NOT, I repeat NOT the same as the Hawaii Medical GumDrops. The GumDrops found at Target, Walmart, and Babies R Us are manufactured by First Years. The Hawaii Medical GumDrops are the same ones used in hospitals. They have a soft, slightly textured nipple. They are much lighter than the ones sold in stores and are only made in the USA! Emmitt will NOT use the ones sold in stores, and I can honestly see/feel the difference in the two.

These kids need to be BINKY models for sure!!!!
