Mommy Is Broken

I have received many emails and messages from my wonderful readers, so I wanted to take the time to sit down and explained what happened to me! Broken bones are thankfully something I have never had to deal with. I made it through childhood and adolescence with not a single bone and thankfully (knock on wood) thus far none of my children have experienced anything broken either. Well all that came crashing, or should I say falling down Thursday evening as I tumbled down an entire flight of stairs holding my 18 month old! My main concern the entire way down was not landing on him! Babies … [Read more...]

Fuzzy Ball Reward System

Far to often in my house I ask one of the kids to do something simple (pick up your dirty socks, replace the toilet paper when you use the last of it, shut the back door, do your homework) and get a whiny voiced response that makes me want to pull my hair out! This would be bad enough if just one of the kids did it- but times that by four, plus a teenager and a one year old and if it continues I am going to have no hair left! My kids don't always do what they are asked and hate helping out. I felt like I had tried everything when I stumbled upon a post by Red Sox Mom about how Fuzzy Balls had worked … [Read more...]

Give Kids Shoes A Bit More Life

My kids fly through shoes. It seems like every week one of them needs the next size up! Every few weeks I sort through the shoe closet, toss the ones that are in horrible shape or we can not find a match for and donate the ones that do not fit anymore! Today when I went through the box I noticed a lot of shoes that would still fit them for most of the summer- but were looking pretty dingy. So I set out to find a way to make them look less dingy, and give them a bit more life so they can wear them till they need the next size up. I was amazed at how they turned out! These ones were rather simple. … [Read more...]

Square Watermelon

My kids eat a lot of  watermelon when it is in season. I love it too, but the thing takes up so much room in my fridge. Yesterday Derrick climbed INTO the fridge to get at the watermelon, it rolled off my shelf, and smashed all over the floor, take it from me watermellon is not fun to clean up. Oh and cats choke on watermelon seeds- but that is a story for another day. I was looking online for easier ways to store watermelon and I found that awhile ago Japanese farmers figured out a way to make square watermelons. They forced their waterme lons to grow into a square by inserting the melons … [Read more...]

Lucky Truck

On December 30, an Arizona driver was driving east along State Route 59, a canyon road just outside Hurricane (13oish miles NE of Las Vegas) The truck went off the road and through a concrete guardrail. The truck flipped end over end and landed on the other side of the concrete drain.   Ok so you agree that the above picture makes him a very lucky man- who by the way walked away with out a scratch- Well... What do you think about this man after viewing the picture below?!   … [Read more...]

Dumb Blonde

A blonde walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. She says she’s going to Europe on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for the loan, so the blonde hands over the keys to a new Rolls Royce. The car is parked on the street in front of the bank; she has the title, and everything checks out. The bank agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank’s president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the blonde for using a $250,000 Rolls as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An … [Read more...]
