100th Day Of School Bees In A Hive Project

The 100th day of school is such a special time for kids. The teachers go all out and they are asked to create a project featuring 100 things. All of my kiddos needed projects but I wanted to make sure each of them had something super special to bring in! Derrick’s teacher mentioned a while ago she loved bumblebees- so his project was a Beehive!

We headed to AC Moore to collect our supplies. It cost us around 35.00, with the purchase of paint brushes and superglue because we did not have one. All you need for this project is round piece of tree, light yellow paint, dark yellow paint, black paint, paint brushes, bumblebees and glue.

This project is so easy to do. First you paint the tree piece the lighter yellow color. It will need two or three coats depending on how much paint it sucks in. Let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.IMG_5061

Then use the darker yellow to add a streaks through out the tree piece to create a honeycomb look. Add a door to the hive as well as black definition lines. Let dry.

IMG_5070Once the tree piece is completely dry you can have your little one add the 100 bees! If you want the bees to stick forever you can add a dot of super glue before your little one adds the bees!

This is too cute! I have a board for 100 days of school I have to pin this to. I wish I had known about something like this for my grandsons 100 days. Maybe next year
