Disclosure: Audi let me test drive a 2013 Allroad for a week!
If you are having an extremely hard time deciding between a wagon and crossover SUV, the 2013 Audi allroad may be the vehicle for you! For the first time since 2005, the Audi allroad is making its re-entry into the US! Featuring 211 horsepower with 258 pounds-foot of torque that makes it faster and more fuel efficient than its predecessor the allroad gets a whopping 20/27 mpg!
For the first time since 2005 the allroad is making a re-entry into the U.S. market. The new allroad is built on the A4 platform and has been modified to meet the functionality and design elements that define the iconic allroad. Standard features of the allroad include a panoramic sunroof, power front seats and aluminum trim on the dash and doors. With optional features such as heated seats, wood trim and a 505-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system.
The Audi connect subscription really makes the technology inside the allroad stand out. With the subscription the navigation system is enhanced with Google Earth maps and real-time SiriusXM Traffic information, for a true aerial view of the route you are taking. Audi connect also features real-time localized weather, news and live fuel prices; Google Local Search for detailed information about travel destinations, such as restaurant or hotel hours.
The rolling Wi-Fi hotspot, allows up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices to simultaneously use the wireless connectivity. This was great for trips with the kids. They were able to use our Wi-Fi only iPad the entire way there, making my drive much more quiet than normal!
The 8-way power, heated drivers seat is pure joy to sit in and the silk smooth steering wheel is even sweeter! There is a rolling volume control drum on the steering wheel, with a push-to-mute function- which is great when traveling with young kids. I personally think that the drivers seat needs to be the most comfortable seat in the vehicle and in the allroad- it for sure is. No matter your shape or size you can get a comfortable fit. The steering wheel manually tilts and and the center armrest moves forward and back. There are two differently sized cup holders in the console, both with sprung arms to hold beverages securely, and pockets in the doors to hold water bottles or sippy cups.
The back seat is a bit narrower than I expected it to be. There is a large hump in second row which prohibits the safe installation of a car seat and an adult would not be comfortable sitting on it. I was however, able to install two large car seats in the back with no problem. Two adults could fit back there comfortably, but no way could three fit. Pictured below are two Diono Radian RXT seats.
The large trunk features 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space! When you fold the back seats down, 50.5 cubic feet of cargo space is available. The hatch back door makes getting things in and out of the trunk easy, even a large double stroller- which I was easily able to fit.
Standard safety features on the 2013 Audi Allroad include antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. In Edmunds brake testing, the Allroad came to a stop from 60 mph in 121 feet, which is average. In government crash tests it earned five stars for side crash protection!

I would love to own an Audi! I’m dying for one of their SUVs. Love the heated seats and my favorite thing about Audi is their grill 🙂
We are looking into a Toyota Prius crossover SUV.
I have been considering a crossover and this one looks beautiful. But I think I will need one that will fit three in the backseat.
I love that this vehicle has a bit of the old school station wagon feel to it while bringing modern design and Audi benefits. I really wish more auto companies would introduce a similar style.
I don’t like that there is a big hump in the back seat as I would someday like to be able to fit 2 carseats and 1 person in the back seat. I do like the technology in it, although I doubt I would use it much. I don’t have much technology in my car (it’s a 2001) so I think it would be overwhelming.
What a sleek car!
I’m definitely in the market of switching out my 4-door sedan with an SUV.
This Audi allroad seems to have the space, features and comfort we’re seeking.
Thanks for sharing this review.
I have seen one of thesee running around town- they look very nice and they sound like they have lots of nice options.
My Brother has the older model of Audi, but this car is roomy and very well made. What a really nice family car, and I like that I can get a lot of stuff in the back if I need to. It also has a nice interior and a great radio system for traveling.
That is a great looking vehicle! It’s very spacious but still like driving a car!
Audis arw always so nice! Love the storage space!
I’d love having one like this, very roomy and nice
It looks beautiful and has the room we need, but the mileage is still low at 20/27….just can’t beat a Honda.
I love that this has wi-fi and heated seats…. my two favorite features on this one!
