Move Over Barbie: There is a new Jeep in town. And it’s faster and cooler. It’s the Joovy 4×4 Ride-On!
My kids have asked for a Ride-On car many times. However every time I have gone with my husband to look at one they all looked huge and very cheaply made. There is just no room in my house to store a huge power wheel vehicle- so even though I knew my kids would love one- it was just not an option for us.
When I saw the Joovy 4×4 Ride-On- I knew I had finally found the ride-on for us. The 4×4 is a top-of-the-line battery powered vehicle for toddlers 3-5. It boasts, in my book at least the most realistic ride on vehicle I have ever seen. The rear ‘tire well’ can be opened with a coin and is the perfect storage spot for your toddlers special items! The horn honks and the headlights work. There is even a removable floor mat to keep the floors clean.
The 4×4 really moves! It boasts two motors, one for each rear wheel with a 12-volt battery and a top speed of 5 MPH. It comes with a charger that is super easy to plug in and needs to be charged for 8 hours at a time. Under the hood is a special ‘fake’ wire piece to protect all the real wires underneath.
We choose not to let our kids know about the real wires underneath, because this is just not something they should be messing with!
The 4×4 Ride-On controls are super easy to use. The key must be in the ‘ignition’ and turned for the jeep to drive. There is a forward and reverse switch and a high speed and low speed switch. The 4×4 has two speeds. Low speed goes about 2.5 MPH and high speed goes 5 MPH. To operate the vehicle, place the key in the ignition and push down on the accelerator pedal- and away you go!
Joovy suggests kids are a mimimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years (or 80 lbs). I feel this is pretty accurate.
16 Month Old: Emmitt is way below the recommended age, but he is very interested in the 4×4 because his brothers and sisters love it so much. His legs are not even close to reaching the petals yet and he is not ‘aware’ enough to be able to drive this, even going 2.5 MPH. However he does love to sit in it!
3 Year Old: Carlee is the exact targeted age range for the 4×4, however- she likes it the least. She is very timid and shy, so is scared of the 4×4 because it really can move. She has just recently warmed up to it, but will only drive it if I hold onto the steering wheel as she pushes the accelerator!
5 Year Old: Ethan and Derrick are both 5 and a half, which is a bit older than the max recommended age. However I swear this 4×4 was made for them. I literally have to pull them out of the 4×4 when it is time to go inside. They zip around like they have been driving for years and know exactly how to control the jeep!

These are great ~ DS would love it ~ he’s almost getting too big but he’d still love it. I love all the details… amazing how many more there are than when we were kids.
We are HUGE Joovy fans here in our home and currently own 3 of their strollers, their balance bike, cot, booster seat, new sling and more! I think the 4×4 will be next on our list and I love the added rims!

the Joovy 4×4 looks pretty close to the real thing. I like that it has all the options you listed and ranges from age 3 to 5 so the kids don’t outgrow it in just a few months like some models. Great looking ride on.

Looks very kid friendly. I think all 3 of mine would live it. Its not as girly as a Barbie jeep so the boys would like it too.

While this is a very nice looking ride on, $500 is insane! Not to mention it only seats 1. It would be far more useful if it had a passenger seat!
This seems like a cute toy but is pretty expensive and can only accomodate children who are 3-5 years old. Might not be a bad investment if you have multiple kids of different ages so you can pass it down from one kid to the next.
I absolutely love everything about this Joovy Ride. It’s so authentic looking and the wires underneath the hood make it even more so. I love your picture of Emmitt, just adorable.
