Disclosure: The helmet in the feature below was sent compliments of Joovy.
Noodle! Use your Noodle! Noodle! Do the Noodle dance! Please tell me I’m not the only one who remembers this song? Noodle (also known as head) care in our house is very important. I feel it is my job to ensure that each and every time my kids are participating in adventurous activities, such as riding their bikes or scooters, their heads are properly protected.
Carlee is our clumsiest little one but she also has a very small head, so finding a helmet for her was proving to be a difficult task- till we tried the Joovy Noodle! The Noodle helmet was made for kids 1-4 with a head size between 18.5 – 20.5 inches so is perfect for younger kids or older children that struggle with finding a small enough helmet.
I was able to get a perfect fit on Carlee by using the easy to use, adjustable fit dial on the back of the Noodle. I stuck it on her head with it extended all the way and slowly spun the dial till the helmet was secure. (Note: You can test the secureness of your child’s helmet by using the ‘twist test’. Place your hand on top of the helmet and twist it. If their head goes with the helmet, it is a secure fit. If the helmet twists freely, it’s too loose.)
The chin strap is made of nylon, so it is very easy to adjust. Once I had each side the proper length I moved the silder on each side to form a “V” shape under, and slightly in front of, Carlee’s ears and she was ready to go. The pinch guard chin strap makes sure skin is never pinched when securing the buckle.
Carlee really does not like wearing anything on her head because she gets sweaty so quickly. I think the folks at Joovy realized how sweaty kids heads get when they are running around outside because the Noodle has 14 air vents! This allows maximum airflow to travel through the helmet keeping Carlee sweat free! She can wear it for hours while playing outside and never has sweat issues- I can not say the same for her brothers.
The Noodle is available in a variety of fun colors. Check out Baby Dickey’s son Ryan in his awesome blue one by clicking here.
The Noodle is great for bike rides, ride-on cars, scooters, bike trailers and other similar activities and can be purchased for 29.99 from Joovy.com
This helmet looks very slick and cool for any child, especially those that don’t want to wear one. It comes in such bright colors!! Love it!
Cute helmet! Love the extra features like the chin strap protector and the knob adjustment. We have a helmet like this for my youngest, but I need one for my 5 1/2 year old now
Very sleek helmet, looks very comfortable too. Like helmets my kids forget they are wearing it and enjoy riding!
My kids have been playing outdoors on their bikes and scooters more often this year. We have helmets but they’re getting small and since we’re big Joovy fans, I already know you can’t go wrong with products from this brand!
I love Joovy stuff. That looks like it would be great!
haha I love the name! Noodle helmet! I think it is so great that it has so much ventilation. My daughter takes her helmet off and is drenched in sweat!
never heard of the twist test until now… thanks! i always buy helmets at the thrift store, which isn’t always safe because they could’ve expired or been damaged, but it’s better than not having any protection at all. and yeah, the sweaty head problem is horrible – i never wore a helmet as a child because of it and my son complains of it, too. thanks for the review!
I can remember my mom doing the twist test on me! It’s been around for ages 🙂
I don’t know the song, but I do know that we need a noodle! My son gets super sweaty, so the ventilation sounds like a great feature. And believe it or not, he actually doesn’t fight us on wearing a helmet!
What?! You’ve never heard the Noodle song?!
Here it is- http://youtu.be/Bl0qK6VJW2A
Now you’ve got me wondering how many air vents my daughters helmet has because she sweats SO bad! And she doesn’t like it at all either, I wonder if she would like this Joovy helmet. Thanks for sharing!
I love that its affordable!
I agree. It;’s nice to see a product that’s made specifically to keep your little one save that does not cost an arm and a leg!
I’ll have to try the twist test on my kids. Love the color on this helmet, it sure looks safe.
I love the color too. Far to often everything marketed to kids is plastered in cartoon characters! It’s nice to see something plain, yet kid friendly!
You just sent them another customer! I’ve been SEARCHING high and low for something affordable, but not covered in TV characters he doesn’t know. I love the simple color AND the features you pointed out-I wouldn’t have even known to look for things like that! Thanks!
This helmet looks very nice. Thanks for the interesting and informative review!
That looks like a really comfortable helmet. I love all the vents to keep cool.
