Electronics in our house normally fair pretty well, even with six kids. However a few months ago I learned my lesson the hard way when somehow my iPad made it into the bubble bath with Carlee. We tried the rice method, but were left with a water logged iPad that Apple wanted to charge us 250.00 to replace.
Now that I know my electronics are no longer safe from water, I set out to find a way to protect them! I have always used a case on my iPhone, because even I am a clutz at times and it takes a tumble because I drop it. However my current case was not water proof and with no iPad I knew my phone would be an object of desire faster than you can say bubble bath!
I had heard of LifeProof before. During BlogHer12 their amazing prop of the phone, playing Finding Nemo in a fish bowl filled my Instagram and Twitter feed but I really did not think that my phone needed to be waterproof because who gets an electronic as important as an iPhone or iPad near water? My Carlee- that’s who!
The LifeProof case offers so much; including:
- Protection against every-day hazards.
- Freedom to swim and take underwater or anywhere.
- Ultra-slim and adds only 1/16″ (1.5mm) when measured from the center of the phone.
- Lightweight at only 28g, which is less than an ounce.
- Amazing images with the double AR-coated optical glass lenses that provides crystal-clear photo and video quality.

The LifeProof case for the iPhone 4/4s offers seven levels of protection for you iPhone
- Waterproof vents on all mics and speakers
- Anti-reflective optical glass lens
- Waterproof and dirt-proof seals on case and port
- Scratch-resistant, waterproof screen protector
- Polycarbonate frame
- Non-stick cover
- Shock-absorbing elastomer
Put all seven of those features together and you have a phone not even my bubble bath queen can break! The case was easy to install and I was amazed at the size of the case after the initial install. I figured switching to a safer case meant that my phone would become huge- but the LifeProof case mad my phone thinner and lighter than it had ever been before!
I was so nervous testing the phone out in water, but I needed to be sure. So a week or so when my husband stayed over at a hotel for work I drove to see him. The hotel had a pool in it and I tossed it in. Of course then I frantically dove in the water, calling myself an idiot the entire time (and lost a contact- but that’s a different story) to get my phone thinking the entire time I just flushed my 900.00 iPhone down the toilet! To my amazement it still worked! I was even able to get some cool under water shots of the kids playing!
