When we first bought our house I was so excited to decorate! We had always rented and all the homes we rented at said we could not put anything, including nails into the walls!
When our home was finally built and ready to decorated I realized being a first time homeowner could be mush more expensive than I had ever imagined. Just buying trash cans was expensive- cost us a little under 250.00! Add that to all the blinds, curtains and everything else we had never had to buy before and we quickly spent a ton! I had a pretty strict budget for home decor already, and unexpected things (like the darn trash cans) made it so most of it was gone. So I had to skip quite a few rooms and only do minimal decor in the others. The picture below is how our bathroom looked for the first year or so- no laughing!
The red rug ended up getting pee on it while potty training and somehow my red towels disappeared. Eventually the only color left in the room was a soap pump. It was bad- real bad!
So I started planning. I wanted a color as far away from red as I could gasp! My husbands favorite color is blue, so I went with that. I also found a beautiful “beach” sign that I knew would fit in there perfect! So I had it! A blue beach themed bathroom- perfect!
We bought the paint, a new cabinet for storage and a new mirror to match the cabinet and got to painting! When we were done it looked beautiful- but the wall with the towel racks was so plain and so boring. It was really missing something.
I redecorated my kitchen accent wall not to long ago and added a beautiful Sean Jacobs piece from Gallery Direct that finished off the look I was going for- so I browsed around to see if I could find something that would go in the bathroom. To be honest I was not sure how art in the bathroom was going to look, but even if it didn’t end up in the bathroom I knew I could find a space for it. I measured my space and shopped for art by color. I knew we needed something beach related that would not clash with the blue or the wood!
I finally decided on Ocean I and Ocean II by Sean Jacobs. I seriously love his work- so I knew I couldn’t go wrong! They arrived super fast, as always with Gallery Direct and they were both ready to hang!
The final result is more magnificent that I could have ever imagined! The Ocean prints literally pull the entire room together! I never knew art in the bathroom could finish off a room like these two have done- but they have. It is hard to get a great picture of the entire look because the bathroom is so small- but you get the idea!
If you have a bathroom, or any room for that matter that is lacking finishing touches I urge you to check out Gallery Direct- I guarantee you will find something super affordable that you love!
Isn’t it amazing what a little color can do?!! Fab job! It looks wonderful!
Wow! You did such an amazing job. That’s a beautiful bathroom and the Ocean prints fit in perfectly! Love it!
I love those, Skye! They really were the finishing touch to the bathroom!
I love artwork in the bathroom! I actually took my large towel rack down so i could hang a picture instead and use a series of baskets to store towels and washclothes now. It’s just not a bathroom without a peaceful picture to look at while you’re well…..doing things lol My bathroom is beach themed too, and I love it. The pictures look awesome, great job!
Your bathroom looks exactly like ours, down to the pedestal sink and mirror! I love how you redirected it and it gives me inspiration to finally redo ours!
Wow I like the difference it made. Make it more inviting. Great review. Thanks for sharing.
