Step2: Master Carpenter Workshop

Do you have a little builder who loves to work with their hands? Then the Step2 Home Depot Master Workshop, a Toys’R’Us exclusive may be the perfect toy for your house! This deluxe workbench is perfect for the mini maste6r carpenter in your home and features a large work surface that includes screw holes and recesses for nut and screw storage. The unique and realistic-looking “wood” foam project pieces are made from indestructible Durafoam which allows children to build creations while using their imagination. There are plenty of places to stick tools and screws with a color coordinating parts bin and hanging jars. The 60-piece accessory set includes an electric chop saw and drill press that has a task light over the pegboard

The The Home Depot Master Workshop features:

  • 60 piece accessory set!
  • Electronic chop saw & drill press
  • Task light over pegboard
  • Clear jars & bins for storage
  • Deep utility sink for more storage
  • Realistic “wood” foam project pieces
Set up was a breeze. It took about 20 minutes start to finish and all I needed was a screwdriver. Once set up, I was surprised at how big the Master Carpenter Workshop was! Plenty big enough for three or four kids to gather round and build together! You do need eight batteries, that unfortunately do not come with the workshop.

The power drill and saw both make noise and add to the ‘realness’ of the workshop. The kids drill through the holes of the foam wood and ‘saw’ the pieces in half for what seems like hours sometimes!

The peg board provides storage for all the included tools. You can position the pegs up higher for older kids, or down lower for younger kids! There are plenty of drawers, doors and storage containers to store pieces in- but I would have liked to see a toolbox come with it! The kids have a hard time keeping all the pieces with the workshop and sometimes spend more time looking for missing pieces than actually playing.

The only thing that disappointed us with the Master Carpenter Workshop was the “indestructible” Durafoam. It is defiantly not indestructible. It took my 18 month old less than 2 minutes to bite through one and I find more and more each day with bite marks or missing pieces.

Buy It: You can purchase the Step2: Master Carpenter Workshop from Toys R Us for 179.99.
