The set is recommended for kids older than 7 because it comes with 53 small pieces. My six year old was able to put this together with no problem, with a bit of 'help' from his two year old brother. I begged and pleaded with my Nana to buy me one. She walked up to the front clerk and asked a few questions, leaving me to stare at the shelf full trying to decide which pony I wanted if I could only pick one.
